SEO-Friendly URL Checker
Analyzes a URL for length, readability, stop words, special characters, and keyword presence. Get actionable suggestions for cleaner URLs.
Note: Some checks require fetching external URLs, which may be blocked by CORS restrictions in the browser. For URLs that can't be fetched directly, try pasting the HTML source instead. Full functionality can be connected via a server-side API proxy.
Why this matters
URL structure affects both rankings and click-through rates. Short, descriptive, keyword-rich URLs are preferred by search engines and users alike. Long URLs with parameters and special characters are harder to crawl, harder to share, and less likely to be clicked.
FAQ
Short (under 75 characters), descriptive, hyphen-separated, keyword-relevant, and free of unnecessary parameters, stop words, and special characters. Lowercase with a clean hierarchy.
Generally avoid stop words (a, the, is, of, in) in URLs. They add length without value. For example, /how-to-rank-in-google/ is better than /how-to-rank-in-the-google-search-engine/.
Changing URLs can temporarily hurt rankings if not done correctly. Always implement 301 redirects from old to new URLs and update internal links. Plan URL changes carefully.
