Definition
Structured Data & SchemaJSON-LD (JavaScript Object Notation for Linked Data) is a serialization format for structured data. Google recommends JSON-LD as the preferred format for implementing Schema.org markup. It is embedded in a script tag in the page head or body and does not interfere with visible content.
Why it matters
JSON-LD is Google's recommended format for structured data. It is easier to implement and maintain than microdata or RDFa.
