Back to glossary

A nofollow link is a hyperlink with the rel="nofollow" attribute, which signals search engines not to follow the link for ranking purposes. Since 2019, Google treats nofollow as a hint rather than a directive. Nofollow links can still drive traffic and may have indirect SEO value.
