Definition

Technical SEO

Noindex is a directive (set via meta robots tag or HTTP header) that tells search engines not to include a page in their search index. A noindexed page will not appear in search results. The page is still crawled, unlike pages blocked by robots.txt.

Why it matters

Noindex is the correct way to prevent a page from appearing in search results while still allowing crawlers to follow its links.
