Definition
Technical SEOAMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) is a web component framework designed to create fast-loading mobile pages. Google previously gave AMP pages preferential treatment in search results, but this advantage was removed in 2021. AMP is now largely deprecated in favor of standard web performance optimization through Core Web Vitals.
Why it matters
AMP is no longer necessary for search performance. Core Web Vitals are the primary performance signal.
Common misconceptions
- AMP is still required for mobile SEO — it is not. Standard HTML with good performance scores equally.
